SECTION OF COMO

Como Section

The Como Section of AISM, founded in 1983, operates in the provincial territories of Como, Lecco and Sondrio to ensure support, autonomy and participation for people with multiple sclerosis and their families, helping them to overcome the problems imposed by the disease on a daily basis and to improve their quality of life. The Section provides autonomy support activities, including at home, mobility support activities with equipped vehicles, drug delivery, through the Angeli in Moto Association.

Carries out information activities on the rights of people with disabilities, existing laws and their application, through the Social Desk activity, active since 2017, which gives useful information and guidance to deal with the practices of civil disability and handicap status assessment, driver's license, badging and targeted placement. Tax benefits and contributions, right to study, mobility, architectural barriers, facilities, work permits and social and health services in the area.

Offers information activities at Clinical Referral Centers for Multiple Sclerosis. It proposes recreational and socialization activities and represents and affirms the rights of people with MS through its presence in institutions.

As a result of high demands for rehabilitation services not fulfilled by the public health service from people with MS in the province of Como, courageously the AISM Section of Como in 2011 embarked on the path to obtain Operating Authorization and Institutional Accreditation, becoming a full-fledged Rehabilitation Service. Today the activities of the Como AISM Section are integrated with the rehabilitation health activities carried out by the Service, responding to the needs of people with multiple sclerosis in a 360-degree way.

Born as a dream and a challenge, the AISM House in Como has thus turned into a well-established reality, always setting new goals to be achieved in the areas of: Autonomy - Socialization - Rehabilitation.
