Hand in hand, step by step

He had strong, energetic, lively and, at the same time, soft and delicate hands. Hands that knew how to create and enchant, that caressed and consoled with love and that, with unsuspected rapidity, were also able to vigorously drive away flies, wielding the kitchen rag. Clasping her long, enveloping and gnarled fingers between mine, I loved to walk by her side, partly leaning on her, partly supporting her myself, tuning mine to her steps, which were getting slower and slower with the years. So, since my grandmother died, I have had to face the difficulty of walking alone, without her firm reassuring grip, without the comfort of her familiar and unmistakable gait. I started approaching AISM's initiatives in the corridors of my high school, during the annual sale of bags of apples, and over the years I have then tried to support other projects and learn more about the Association. Now, a few months after the death of my grandmother, I wanted to dedicate to her memory a fundraiser, a small but heartfelt contribution to scientific research, in the knowledge that only hand in hand we can have the strength and spirit to continue the fight against multiple sclerosis, in the hope that, step by step, the results obtained can ensure that many more kids like me to grow with their loved ones, as long as possible, as I was lucky enough to walk until the end next to my grandmother.
